Notes:
- This is could be considered to be Dream Theater's 4th album, however it is considered to be an "EP" as it is not a full legnth album.
- This is the first album to feature Derek Sherinian on Keyboards.
- This is the first DT album to feature cover songs. Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding was originally done by Elton John, Perfect Strangers was originally done by Deep Purple, The Rover, Achilles Last STand and The Song Remains the Same were all originally done by Led Zepellin and finally The Big Medley includes songs by Pink Floyd, Journey, Kansas, Queen, The Dixie Dregs and Genesis.
- This album is touted as an "EP" (extended play album) which is not totally accurate. Although it features only 5 tracks, the album is longer than both When Dream and Day Unite and Images and Words. The band pushed for the album to be called an EP because they didn't want the fans thinking it was their latest full-length release.
- The title track was originally intended for Images and Words.
- All of the live material was taken from the band's "Uncovered" show.
- Before it was considered (and denied) for Falling Into Infinity. the song Raise the Knife was written for this album.
- The band also briefly considered putting Images and Words leftover To Live Forever and instrumental B-side Eve on this album, but decided not to due to them being leftoevers from the Kevin days.
