If you are going to get this, I highly recommend also getting the DVD version of When Dream and Day Reunite. Check the DVD page for a very in-depth review of it.

As for the updated performance of this album, this is a great thing to get if you're a fan of the original album, or even if you haven't heard the studio version. I heard this prior to ever hearing the original version, and I was blown away. I missed out on a lot of great stuff before hearing this, and songs such as The Ones Who Help to Set the Sun, Afterlife, Only a Matter of Time, and The Killing Hand have become some of my favorite by the band.

The biggest highlight of the show has to be the encore, though. Charlie Dominici joins the band onstage for a great performance of To Live Forever, and yet another former member, Derek Sherinian, joins them onstage for an exceptional performance of Metropolis. With seven members of Dream Theater on stage and a killer extended instrumental section, this is the most amazing performance of Metropolis the band has ever done, and this show is also one of the very best overall performances of their career.

An exceptional live album, but if you're going to get either the CD or DVD, I highly recommend getting the DVD instead. It has everything to be found on this CD plus a whole lot more.
