Notes:
- This is Dream Theater's 7th album, and it has 7 songs.
- This is the last DT album to be on the now-defunct record label Elektra, which was bought out by Atlantic Records.
- This is the first album in a long while to not be reacorded at Beartracks Studio, as a conveinance for the band.
- After Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence was leaked on the internet prior to it's release, the band took extra precautions to keep this album from being leaked. This was a success, although the album was avialable on the internet a few days before the release date, this was not due to a leak, but rather some stores releasing the album early.
- A 3-track promotional single was issued to radio stations prior to the album's release, including a 2 radio edits of As I Am and the album version.
- The end of Six Degrees of Inner Turublence is used (reversed) for the beginning of this album, and the end of this album is used as the beginning of Octavarium
- This Dying Soul is a continuation of The Glass Prison, the saga also continues in The Root Of All Evil
- For the first time since Awake, the band wrote all of the music prior to beginning the recording sessions.
- This album can be placed in any CD-ROM drive to be used to access bonus "The Making of Train of Thought" material at Dream Theater's Official Website. (this function is no longer avialable)
- The last note of the album was played by Jordan Rudess using his nose.
- The "Majesty Symbol" can be seen in the eye.
